  • We loved our visit to Alexander Michael’s in Charlotte. We visited on a Wednesday evening for dinner and it wasn’t busy. We got their Cajun fries(highly recommend them), What it is and a Chicken Sandwich. The fries tasted spicy, fresh and crispy. The chicken and the rotini pasta in What it is were quite fresh too, and so was the chicken sandwich. The vibes inside are those of a dimly lit European tavern. Our server Lacey went out of her way to serve us, and was quite accommodating with all our requests. Parking nearby can be difficult to find(street parking), and the place can get busy on weekends. To maximise your experience, I recommend visiting on a weekday. I’ll be back here soon. Overall, it’s a wonderful place to dine-in in Charlotte.

  • really loved the atmosphere — it feels like a real old-school tavern, warm and relaxed. I had a sandwich with gravy and fries, and it was hearty and delicious. staff were friendly, and the whole place has that “local pub” charm

  • Alexander Michael’s in Uptown Charlotte is a cozy, old-school tavern with serious charm. I tried the “What It Is” and absolutely loved the Cajun cream sauce, rich, flavorful, and perfectly balanced. The bread pudding was the ideal finish: warm, comforting, and delicious. The atmosphere is relaxed and welcoming, tucked into the historic Fourth Ward. Great spot for comfort food with character!

  • My mom and my sister are from Korea. They loved the wings and stragonoff. It was palatable and tasteful. The specials with meatloaf and mash potato and gravy were excellent. The beer was amazing as well!

  • Food was delicious. The blackened catfish was moist and juicy. My family had different pastas with chicken. The “What it is” was very good too. For a busy Saturday the food came out quickly and the waitstaff was attentive. We will be back!

  • Boy, where do I start?!? I’ll tell ya where, the bartender. I went there on a Thursday around lunchtime… it was a crisp fall day in Historic 4th Ward Charlotte if remember correctly. I stepped inside for just a casual bite to eat and immediately was greeted with the most genuine and loving “hello! Welcome to Alexander Michael’s! Can I find you a seat or would like a seat at the bar?" When first entering it’s dark, and I couldn’t see whose angelic voice this was, but then after a couple of steps in… BAM! I saw her… it was as if the clouds parted and an angel lifted up her wings and sang to me “This Must Be The Place” because I was home. Did I find you or did you find me, I wondered? To keep a long story short. The food, atmosphere, and most importantly service were amazing! Shout out to Lillie, the bartender, Kaylor, the manager, Steve, the owner, and Rojo, back of house G. Love you guys… oh and love you as well Jess

  • This was a great little local place to eat. It was originally the first grocery store in Charlotte (per the tour guide). The food was great and full of flavor. It does get busy after 6pm (local time), so I would recommend going sooner or later if you don't want it loud. I had the 4th Ward Beef Stroganoff. Others in my group had the wings and blacked fish, which the said was flavorful too.

  • First time visiting and had a good experience. This restaurant seems to lean hard on the pasta as its specialty and recommend sticking to that area. The fried pickles and potato skins were excellent. Couldn't ask for a friendlier staff.
